MEANINGFUL GROWTH.
PURPOSEFUL DAYS.
ALL-INCLUSIVE SIMPLICITY.
Located on the historic 700-acre campus of The Lawrenceville School, just minutes from Princeton, DEAN Adventure Camps offers programming for ages 4 through 13 for families in Princeton, Pennington, Hopewell, West Windsor, and surrounding New Jersey communities, as well as Yardley, Newtown, and Lower Makefield in Pennsylvania. It's a developmental journey that grows with your child. Every stage builds on the last. Every summer opens new doors. Every young person is prepared to make their mark.
Campers build real skills in woodworking, machine sewing, culinary arts, and innovation labs. Longer days (7:30 AM - 5:30 PM), breakfast and lunch included, and clear daily communication mean summer just got easier for your family. We don't fill days. We shape them.
OUR CAMPS
At DEAN, each camp gives campers different ways to explore an area they love while developing tangible skills and character. Our approach blends purposeful skill-building, guided independence, and warm support from counselors who help every child grow with confidence.

Design. Innovate. Create!
Innovation Lab Explorers takes making to the next level, where campers dive deeper into engineering, design thinking, and hands-on problem-solving. Building on foundational skills, Explorers tackle more complex projects that challenge them to plan, prototype, and refine their creations using a wider range of materials and tools. Throughout the week, campers work with cardboard, wood, foam, wheels, axles, simple circuits, hand tools, glue guns, and building kits to bring their ideas to life. They might engineer a working drawbridge, construct a marble maze with moving parts, build a light-up constellation, or design a vehicle that races down a ramp. Each project introduces real engineering concepts like balance, force, circuits, and structural design—all while keeping the focus on creativity and experimentation. With guidance from skilled instructors, Explorers learn to measure more precisely, follow multi-step plans, troubleshoot when things don't work, and improve their designs through testing. Collaboration drives teamwork as they share ideas and materials, resilience grows as they work through challenges, and responsibility strengthens as they safely manage more sophisticated tools and keep their workspace organized. By week's end, campers take home functional creations they've engineered from start to finish, along with growing confidence in their ability to turn ideas into reality. Because Innovation Lab Explorers grows with experience, campers can return week after week, and year after year, to expand their skills and take on new challenges, creating fresh projects each time. Where curiosity meets discovery every day!
Playful Discoverers is DEAN's foundational camp experience for PreK and Kindergarten campers, where learning happens through play, imagination, and hands-on exploration. Each day unfolds through five activity blocks: Art, Movement, Water Activities, Nature, and STEAM. Giving campers the chance to explore new ideas, materials, and ways of expressing themselves. Campers might paint and build, splash and play during water activities, investigate the outdoors, conduct experiments, or move through games and dances. Along the way, friendships form, confidence grows, and campers experience the joy of trying something new in a supportive setting. This rotating structure reflects how young children learn best, through variety, repetition, and play, while offering comforting routines that help campers feel secure. Week after week, campers become more familiar with activities, skills deepen, and independence takes shape, setting the stage for their journey with DEAN. L Lawrenceville Dates:

Ready for the next challenge? Woodworking Sr. challenges older campers to take their skills to the next level with more advanced techniques and complex builds. Alongside expert instructors, they’ll refine precision in measuring and cutting, learn to read and apply detailed scale drawings, and expand their toolset to include supervised power drills.
Campers step into the full design process—planning, problem-solving, and adapting as they work through challenges. Responsibility deepens as they manage advanced tools, resilience grows as they push through tough design problems, and creativity shines as they add personal touches to their work. By the end of the week, each camper brings home a polished wooden project that proves their craftsmanship, independence, and pride in what they’ve achieved. L Lawrenceville Dates:

-

-
What's your policy on water activities and swimming?
Campers participate in a 30-minute daily free swim period, weather permitting. All swimming is supervised by certified lifeguards and DEAN staff. Before entering the pool, each camper completes a short swim assessment so our lifeguards can determine the safest area of the pool for their swimming ability.
Swimming is completely optional. Campers who prefer not to swim can participate in other recess activities instead.
Campers Entering PreK and Kindergarten:
Our youngest campers enjoy water-play activities such as slip-and-slide, water twisters, and other water games. These activities are also optional, with alternative recess choices available.
We'll send detailed swim and water play information in mid-May, including:

Our happiness guarantee means if there's an issue, we'll fix it. Whether that's changing programs, providing a credit, or issuing a refund.
-
How do you support campers with special needs or need accommodations?
We welcome campers with a wide range of needs and abilities. Please share information about your camper's needs in the registration forms so we can discuss appropriate accommodations. Our staff is trained to support diverse learners, and we work closely with families to ensure every camper can participate fully and safely.
-
My child is shy and can be anxious at times. How do you help campers feel comfortable?
Our counselors are trained in helping campers navigate new social situations. We use strategies like buddy systems, small group activities, and regular check-ins. Many campers feel nervous on Day 1 and are leading the group by Friday! We encourage you to talk with your camper about trying new things and that it's okay to feel nervous.
-
What if my camper has a conflict with another camper?
Our counselors actively monitor group dynamics and address conflicts immediately using age-appropriate conflict resolution strategies. We teach campers to communicate their feelings, listen to others, and find solutions together. If issues persist, we'll contact you to partner on a solution.
