The DEAN Fellowship is an immersive leadership experience for high school students seeking hands-on professional development in a dynamic, fun summer camp environment. In a world where meaningful hands-on work experiences for teenagers are increasingly rare, DEAN’s Fellowship program offers something exceptional: the chance to develop real leadership skills while making a genuine impact on a vibrant community, all while building lasting friendships with others who share your drive and curiosity.

This program is all about bridging the gap between being a camper and joining our team of counselors by preparing our fellows to develop essential leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while gaining valuable experience working with children and adult professionals. 

Over the three-week intensive, under the guidance of DEAN's Fellow Advisor, fellows rotate through various camp departments, shadowing instructors, supporting operations, and solving real challenges as they arise. Daily workshops led by experienced staff sharpen your skills in entrepreneurship, creative problem-solving, and collaboration, with guest speakers bringing real-world context to the principles being practiced. 

But it's not all work: Fellows enjoy daily lunch together, afternoon swim or a socialization break, team-building challenges, group reflections, and plenty of time to connect with fellow participants. These moments of connection and fun are woven throughout each day, creating a balance between meaningful work and the joy of summer.

Innovation Lab Navigators is designed for older campers ready to think bigger, work smarter, and take ownership of their ideas. This challenge-driven program empowers Navigators to explore complex problems, set goals, and push their creativity while developing real-world innovation skills.

Campers dive into advanced STEAM projects like designing multi-step machines, building systems with motors, sensors, and circuits, and coding solutions to open-ended challenges. With counselors facilitating rather than directing, Navigators plan, test, adapt, and refine their designs by building agency, resilience, and collaboration as they balance leadership with teamwork.

At the Friday Showcase, campers present their finished projects in a showcase that celebrates effort, growth, and ingenuity. They leave with sharpened critical-thinking skills, confidence in their independence, and pride in tackling complex challenges from start to finish.

Dean Adventure Camp is presenting Camp Broadway MyWay to enable musical theater-loving campers to learn the fundamentals of theater production through an immersive two-week journey that culminates in a showcase performance. Over 40 hours of expert instruction, campers dive into vocal technique, choreography, and performance while collaborating as a true ensemble to bring songs and scenes from iconic Broadway shows to life. Working in age-based groups (ages 7-9 and 10-14), each cohort performs the show together, with guidance from theater professionals and a special masterclass led by a guest artist.

This isn't just about learning lines and songs, campers become active creators in every aspect of their show. They design and create costume pieces, build set elements through woodworking and craft, and explore special effects makeup techniques. Each age group engages in developmentally appropriate hands-on activities that bring their creative vision from concept to stage. Campers can choose to perform onstage or take on essential backstage production roles; both paths are equally valued in bringing the show to life. The experience culminates in a 30-minute showcase performance where families, friends, and campers witness the magic of what campers have built together.

No prior acting, singing, or dancing experience is required to participate in our programs. Due to the ensemble nature of the program, both beginners and experienced campers will be nurtured and challenged.

The maximum enrollment for Camp Broadway MyWay is 50 participants per show. Participants work in two groups organized by age (generally 7-9 and 10-14). Each group performs the show together.

Alongside expert instructors, they’ll refine precision in measuring and cutting, learn to read and apply detailed scale drawings, and expand their toolset to include supervised power drills. Campers step into the full design process—planning, problem-solving, and adapting as they work through challenges.
